Time to step away from the TV. For some of you this may be akin to not eating meat (i.e. crazy). And I know the NBA playoffs are on, but it's National Turnoff the TV Week (Should have posted this earlier).
Here are a few stats from the site:
* On average, children in the US will spend more time in front of the television (1,023 hours) than in school this year (900 hours).
* Forty percent of Americans frequently or always watch television during dinner.
* As US Surgeon General Dr. David Satcher said at the Kick Off of TV-Turnoff Week 2001, "We are raising the most overweight generation of youngsters in American history...This week is about saving lives."
It's interesting that I'm reading this on the internet. A form of media where my lazy ass just sits still and stares into a screen. I read something about how the UK now spends more time online that watching TV. I wonder when the www will switch from 'a wonderful tool to spread knowledge' to ' a terrible alliction creatign obese kiddies'....
