Hastie has lived in Grandview his whole life, except for the years he was away at college."There's a reason why so many people come back to Grandview to live, and that's because it's such a great community," he said. "I wanted to give something back, because Grandview's been so good to me."
It's important the city find the right development for Grandview Avenue and the former Big Bear properties off Goodale Boulevard, Hastie said.
