It's Tourney Time Bitches!!!

So the Buckeyes have garnered the number one overall seed, and it is not difficult to see why. Outside of Kansas, no other team has played at a consistently high level all year. The only OSU team to post a longer winning streak was the 1960/61 team led by Jerry Lucas.

Here's some other ballers that could do some damage come Thursday:

Yancy Gates - University of Cincinnati

A Cincinnati native and McDonalds All American, he has played well this year. The team's center leads the team in points and rebounds, yet the coach benched him for a few games due to lack of effort. UC's offense is extremely balanced, as no one on the team averages over 10 points a game. Their style resembles street ball at times. They rebound extremely well but they turn the ball over a lot.

Peyton Siva - Louisville

A quick point gaurd from Seattle, Siva can score by driving to the hoop or hitting jump shots. Shooting gaurd Preston Knowles is also a gunner who will pull the trigger without hesitation. Louisville's style is frantic. They will usually full court press within the first five minutes of the first half. U of L fans are hoping Siva wont "dribble down his leg" like Pitino did a few years back. The lady that extorted Pitino got like 6 years in the federal penn I think. I had a client that allegedly robbed a cash advance place at gunpoint and they offered him 6 years. I guess the moral of the story is dont mess with Kentucky basketball.

Ben Hansbrough - Notre Dame

The point gaurd from Missouri has been mentioned in player of the year discussions. Older brother Tyler won a national championship with UNC (or two?) and currently plays for the Indiana Pacers. His demeanor during games is extremely intense, and he appears to be ultra confident. During their loss to Louisville in the Big East tournament it seemed as if his pride got in the way of a comeback, as he gunned several ill advised NBA threes that didn't fall. The Fighting Irish lack a consistent offensive presence in the post, but Hansbrough and teamate Tim Abromaitis can hit threes as well as Diebler and Buford can.

Tu Holloway - Xavier
A gaurd originally from Long Island, NY, Holloway is XU's go-to-guy when they need points. He can drive or shoot, and his game resembles Jordan Crawford's from last year. He and fellow gaurd Mark Lyons are difficult to defend. In line with their last few years, the Musketeer's have steadily improved thoughout the season, and seem to be peaking at the right time. I believe they hold the longest current streak of sweet 16 appearances, at about 4, and it would not suprise me to see them there again this year.

  1. Good post Joe. Should be some great games the next few days/weeks.

This made the rounds the last few days, but here is Grant Hill's response to Jalen Rose about the Fab 5 documentary the other night.

Here's a response from Jason Whitlock. Anything that has the words Michigan and laughably untrue in the same article is pretty awesome.

The legacy of the Fab Five is that they were on the cutting edge of America’s unashamed embrace of style over substance.

Let's not forget, they never won anything.

    Go Bucks
