Friday Night Rib Dinner? Get Your Rib On

It's that time of year again! I'm a huge fan of the Rib fest; I love going there for dinner, having a few beers, eating lots of ribs, and laying down to listen to some Jazz.

Brad's bachelor party is tomorrow night, which makes tonight the ideal night for the Festival of Meat and Music. I'd like to get there around 7:30 to get things started. I probably won't go out afterwards, but we are downtown so there's million places to go once the Rib-fest ends @ 10:00pm.

Click on the title to see the weekends performance schedule.

Here are the bands for tonight at 8:30:
Bicentennial Stage
* An Evening with Delfaeyo Marsalis
Traditional, Straight Ahead 8:30 p.m.

Riverfront Stage
* James Moody (Is this one of Dave Chapel's Friends?)
World Jazz

  1. Yo! I've seen Ol' Delfayeo before at the New Orleans Jazz Fest. He's the brother of Wynton, the now legendary trumpet player and Branford, the former musical director on the Tonight Show and a pretty mean sax player in his own right. People line up to play with these guys so there's a good chance that there will be some special guests. If I was in town, I wouldn't miss it.
I do suggest getting absolutely stony-balogna before you go, it seems to enhance the experience. It also may make the ribs taste better.

  2. Thanks for the heads up... on your suggestion we stuck around the Delfayeo's stage with a plate of ribs and some brews. The set we heard was really chill, perfect for laying back on the grass and licking q-sauce off my fingers!

Oh yea, Ed got a plate of Butch's ribs... he's from New Jersey and was featured on Bobby Flay's cooking competition show. He was running a grill while everyone was waiting for their ribs... I need a new camera!
