Do you have too much time on your hands if you find yourself replying to spam that is asking you if you are interested in lucrative proposition? Dwayne Flint wrote to me from dflint@centurytel.net with the subject line: "Are you still open to a new opportunity?" Here is the message:
"Hello, I’m DeWayne Flint , if you’re open to an exceptional opportunity email back for details. Tnx DeWayne"
So I curiosly replied, "sure. I pull all kinds of scams. what do you have in mind?"
Another question would be to ask do you have so much time on your hands that you can then write about it on the blog?

Cool - I'd love to hear what happens when you reply to those things.. My neighbor got sent some fake cashiers checks from a "girl" he met online.. he was supposed to endorse them and send back the cash - the scam being that once the bank realized they were fake (which takes a couple days, I guess), they would have charged him for the loss. Fun, fun.
ReplyDeleteYou can google some of the emails you get. A good example is the ones from african banks. When I looked them up, I found a whole group of people that bait them for fun. Sometimes they will drag them along for months and months.
ReplyDeleteI used to do that. But only for a couple of weeks. Then I'd get bored. Now I just respond with things like 'I'm glad you're spouse died, and I hop you follow suit with a very painful one.' Too much time.
