If you get a chance pick up today's Dispatch and check out the front-page artile Condos becoming cushier as builders vie for young buyers. It summarizes some of the recent condo developments around central Ohio and home ownership trends in 20 somethings and Gen-Xrs. Here's a quote...Lobao married his Grandview high-school sweetheart, now an Upper Arlington teacher, in August. They bought a Grandview house built in 1932 that has termite damage, a musty smell in the basement and "a garage that is about to fall over," he said.

You are neither young, nor professional and we all know it's you that has the musty smell. You should come and live in a thrown-up, postwar, construction kit of a house like mine. I actually think that if we take architecture into consideration the bleeding Germans won hands down! Britain is now scarred by hideous housing thrown up in a hurry without thought for how it looks. Your house may be old, but it has character and period features that cost a premium over here....

Nice job E. I wish they would have spelled the name right though for you.

I kinda like the musty smell, especially coupled with the litter box. Yeah Porch!!!! Maybe a tree will crush your garage, I'm hoping that happens with my car.
ReplyDeleteIt was interesting how they positioned my quotes... I talked more about "What is Grandview" and why I prefer a house to a condo. For the most part it seems like I support home ownership over condo ownership (and for me it that's true). However, Traci made a point that dealing with a "musty basement and termites" might turn more people towards condos.
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo... G-town love!
I can recommend some good termite people if you are looking to get rid of those termites...:)
