I just finished reading John Daly: My Life In And Out Of The Rough, and I think I have a new hero. Here are some of the highlights and lowlights:
* Won the first major he ever played in, The PGA Championship in 1991 by shooting even on the par 3's and 4's and going 12 under on the par 5's.
* Passed out and had his stomach pumped after drinking too many of his usual drinks at that time; triple Jack Daniels, no water, three at a time. The next day he shot 2 under on a PGA course.
* Won the British Open on the Old Course in 1995.
* Led the PGA in driving average for something like 8 years.
* Lost $1.65 Million in 5 hours playing a $5,000 slot machine.
The book is full of crazy stories about a kid from Arkansas who liked to party and play sports. It is a really easy read, pick it up from the library if you get a chance.
