Beta vs. VHS - the remake

Hollywood loves re-making classic old stories, and the betamax vs. VHS war of the early 80's was one we will all never forget. Especially me as my dad bought a betamax VCR. Each weekend we would visit the video store and on one wall Betamax tapes, on the other VHS. Week after week the betamax section got smaller and smaller, making it harder and harder to find something we hadn't already seen. There is only so many times one can watch "The last Starfighter" before it jsut becomes boring.

We've covered this before. But the next thing on from recordable DVDs, Blu-ray and HD DVD formats are due to come to market this year. But which type will win over consumers? Click the link....

  1. I think a lot of people may end up skipping this format in the end. People who have large collections of DVDs in particular may not be interested re-purchasing their collection just to watch them in true high-def (720p or 1080i).

Also I think downloading / streaming options may be available by the time these HD/blu-ray players are sold in walmart.

All of this said people who want to watch true high-def movies and have the other necessary equipment will jump in.
