Real life RISK

Not huge news, but the above article talks about the Navy's public plans to begin shifting part of the nuclear sub fleet to the West Coast and South Pacific. Eighteen of the Ballistic Missle subs in our fleet have as many as 192 warheads on board. That's 3,456 submersable warheads with an individual yield of 100(MK4)-475(MK5)KT each. "Fat Man" dropped on Nagasaki was about 21KT and "Little Boy" at Hiroshima was about 15KT. One KT is equal to two million pounds of TNT. Can anyone figure out the potential yield of all combined warheads within this class in terms of pounds of dynamite? Shit!!

On a side note, this class of sub is called Ohio. Yet another example of Buckeye pride.

Let's hope that we never see any of them in action.
