This has been a strange week. Hurricane Katrina seemed ok and then got worse and worse. I'll admit I was busy with work, moving in, and never really turned on the T.V. till Wednesday night. Once I got a taste of the chaos down there I've just felt a burden... "what can I do?" It's frustrating to see thousands of people with no food, water or medical supplies in the richest "most powerful" country in the world. Kanye West displayed his frustration last night during the NBC hurricane telethon (News Here). It was great, rather than reading the cue cards like every other good celebrity he spoke his mind. It wasn't the most coherent rant, but when they cut back to him and Mike Myers for their final words he flatly said "President Bush does not care about black people." NBC instantly cut away to Chris Tucker. I thought it was great... just the fact that he wasn't afraid to speak his mind... think for your self and question authority right! Anyway Giving money is an option and I've added a couple of donation links to the left.In regards to the discussion earlier in the week... here's a blog post from thechiefsource.com a left wing political blog started by some guys from Akron. In this post they get a friend with a bachelors in economics from MIT who is working on his MBA at Columbia to summarize the economic outfall of Katrina. This was posted on September 1 and its just one guys view, but he's got a good perspective on the whole situation.
Oil and You: How the Katrina disaster affects you
Alright, I'm running out of steam... well coffee at Stauf's and I've got some other erands to run before the game. I'll bring my camera along to document the meat fest. Good luck hurricane Victims... troops in Iraq... troops in Afghanistan... impoverished people around the world.
Hi. I checked out that website. I grew up with Ian Sigalow, he went to Revere Highschool with me and his sister Emily.

It's a small world... a guy I work with grew up with one of the editors of the chiefsource and turned me on to their blog. They do some interesting stuff... they compete with a rival conservative blog and they have "Red Thursday" where they post an article from a conservative. As with any news / political opinion you've got to critique what is said and break down the argument to see if you agree with it... that's why we have brains.
ReplyDeleteIn other news, I watched Shower last night. I'll suggest it for anyone who's been to the Shvitz and anyone who can understand Mandarin. It takes place at a Chinese bath house. I was looking through the foreign language films last night, cause the new releases sucked... Traci noticed the cover and thought of the shvitz... ok this is going no where... I love holidays.
