In this blog I would like to pay homage to a truly great source of literature. Sports Illustrated has been putting out great work since long before I can remember. This week was no different, as they sent out the swimsuit issue along with a normal issue. The swimsuit issue features a bombshell Irish-American girl on the cover, and one photoshoot from my favorite vacation country, Costa Rica. You've gotta love a country whose Atlantic and Pacific borders are only a 4 hour drive apart.
The regular issue has a great article on LBJ. It has an amazing photo of him posterizing Damon Jones of the Heat. Later LeBron is quoted speaking about paving the way for future high school to pro phenoms and mentions O.J. Mayo from North College Hill, which is about 5 miles from my apartment. The article also covers Silas during his playing days, when he won it all with the Celtics and had more rebounds than points in his career.
As for the Cavs, if Silas and the front office can work a deal for Columbus West and OSU grad Michael Redd, I think they would have to be the favorite in the east. He is looking to be traded and his shooting would seriously beef up the Cavs' offense. Also, Gooden Plenty, J-Mac and Z-Unit would need to step up. Anyhooch, if you have an extra $50 a year and enjoy reading about sports, S.I. is definately a good investment.
Your post is on the money... the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue has got to be one of the finest examples of photo-journalism in the world. They've won the Pulitzer Prize at least 100 times.
ReplyDeleteFor those of you who don't have easy access to the mag the web-page his here href"http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/features/2005_swimsuit/">Sports Illustrated SwimsuitAs far as the cavs go I'm with you 100%. Michael Redd would be a huge pick up. Hell if they got Tony Delk to come off the bench (point guard who can stroke the 3, plays for the hawks... might be a has been but blew up for the kings a couple of years back) they could probably go farther in the playoffs. I love what Silas has done... he's mixing a little LeBron with some team-tested tough veterans. And he gets them to play as a team. A lot of credit with how they play has to go to LeBron, he's a super star but he's not a pre-madonna. As you can tell LeBron and I are really close, I know these things because we're tight.
The Dunk Contest is tonight... but with out LeBron will anyone watch? You know he could win it easily... his performance in the McDonald High School Dunk Contest would have embarrassed a lot of NBA playas... sorry for being long winded.
