Metallica did not disappoint. I posted the seating chart from last nights show. Brad, Kelly, Seth and I sat in the second row of section 111. I think Ed & Shea were on the opposite end of the stadium, section 128 maybe? The seats were great, the stage was bad ass, and the band was on fire. Watching them 'In the round' is truly the perfect setting... I can only imagine what it'd be like to be in the snake pit of previous tours.
Lars was really energetic, he was always getting up off of his throne, whipping the crowd into shape and letting everyone know who's the badest rock drummer around. James Hetfield had some great slicked back hair... reminded me of Jessie James. The stage 'broke apart' during the intro to One... its was cool, tons of pyros, James appearing out of no where, bathed in golden light (ahh it was poetic).
Throughout the show I kept thinking, damn... these guys have written a ton of music that has been embraced by people around the world... and a lot of it was done before they were in their 20s. They played for about 2.5 hours, including a second 'mini' encore... and they threw out like 200 picks to the audience.
Anyway, that's my Metallica concert review. Oh yea, be sure to check out the audio blog messages. The first one was done before Metallica came on, and the second one was done during nothing else maters. The quality on both isn't the best but it'll help 'complete the review'.
Also, I would support an amendment to change our national anthem to Ecstasy of Gold... who's with me?
